I'm quite sure the first time you heard the word "Apostille" you weren't sure of its meaning and you certainly didn't know where to find one. Add to the fact that obtaining an apostille can be expensive, complicated, and sometimes takes days or even months to get.
Did you know that 75% of the rejections received on documents are due to Notary errors? The notarial certificate may look fine, but the slightest addition or change in wording, incorrect signature, etc. can cause a major delay in your mission, leaving you on an even tighter deadline and not sure of what to do next.
You may already know that you can simply take your documents to the Secretary of State's office to get an apostille. But if your particular document doesn't need an apostille from the Secretary of State, not only did you waste money, but you've wasted precious time driving (sometimes over an hour) to pay for something that is useless.
Then there's the chance that your documents could be rejected in the country of destination and you won't be notified for several weeks. This will cost you precious time (that you may not have) and more money.
Don’t leave this process to untrained employees, notaries, or non-professionals who do not fully understand the Apostille or Authentication process and the unique requirements each country demands.

Document legalization, also known as attestation, is the process through which a document is verified and certified as authentic and legally valid for use in another country. This process is typically required when a document issued in one country needs to be used in a foreign country, especially for legal, business, educational, or government purposes. The process often involves several different steps. Legalization shows:
Legalization does not confirm the content of the document.
An Apostille (pronounced "Ap-pos-steel" and "Ap-pos-stee") is a certificate that authenticates the signature of the public official on a document for use in another country. Apostilles are used when local and/or state documents are being transferred between countries that are a member of the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961.
An Apostille certifies:
Once a document has been apostilled, it is valid for use in any of the Hague and contracting-member countries. An Apostille does not validate the contents of a document.
For those countries that do not participate in the Apostille process, a Certificate of Authentication will be issued. Their authentication processes differ, and documents may require additional steps to be recognized abroad. Prices are determined by each county's embassy or consulate, and processing times vary according to each country of destination.
A document that has been authenticated is valid for use only in the country where the consulate has legalized it.
